Nutrition Division

Nutrients or food substances are divided into macro and micro nutrients. Macronutrient called because the body needs relatively large for these substances, while micronutrient needed by the body in small amounts, but important because it plays a role in metabolic processes.

More detailed examples of micronutrient and macronutrient is as follows:
  • Macronutrient: protein, fat, and carbohydrates
  • Micronutrient: vitamins and minerals

Essential Nutrients

Essential nutrients are nutrients that are important but can not be produced by our body. We must get from food or supplements (if inadequate food quality and high levels of pollution in the surrounding environment). If we lack this essential nutrient, we will develop the disease due to lack of specific nutrient. For example, when a lack of vitamin C, it will suffer from the disease scurvy, which is characterized by the gums bleed easily, which can only be cured with consume sufficient vitamin C.

Every living thing has a different requirement levels of essential and non essential substances. For example, vitamin C is essential for humans but not for dogs, because these animals can make their own vitamin C needs. After examined at the pet shop dog food there was not one that contains vitamin C.

In humans are most of the essential nutrients including vitamins and minerals, some amino acids and some fatty acids. Therefore when we do not eat good food and diverse we can suffer pain.
